Why Choose a Steelwater Gun Safe?
There is no doubt that Steelwater makes some of the best, top-of-the-line safe as well as inexpensive safes for budget-oriented consumers. They have a good number of positive feedbacks and their reputation speaks for itself.
All of their gun safes go through a double inspection process. First at their manufacturing plant and second is at the warehouse. It is to make sure that all of their products can maintain a high standard and their positive reputation is maintained.
Now, they have a good selection of gun safes available but choosing one will depend entirely on you, how much protection you need and what features you are willing to pay for.
Most of their products come in 3 different variants. They are Standard, Heavy-Duty and Extreme Duty variants. Standards are the budget safes that I’ve been talking about.
But if you want to the absolute best, go for the Extreme Duty models as they will have all the latest security features and durable construction. If you want the best bang for your buck vault, go with any of their Extreme Duty models.
Most of their safes are designed to prevent thieves from gaining access to your valuables. Even if they try to tamper with the locks, hinges or the handle, they will be nowhere near to gaining access to the safe.
Their safes have prybar-proofed five-inch-thick doors 1 ½-inch locking bolts on all sides. If someone tries to tamper with the lock, there are two relocking devices to keep your safe secure.
Different Steelwater Gun Safes offer different lock options. For example, there are models with a digital lock, a combination lock and dial with key lock. All of their digital locks are EMP (electromagnetic pulse) protected.
On top of that, the safe locks are made by a Swiss company called LaGard. This company is among the global top three leaders is security solutions.
All of their safes have rechargeable Dry Pack silica gel dehumidifier that you can get for free. You can also upgrade this to an electric version. The electric dehumidifier comes in 2 sizes. You can either choose to install it by yourself or can get it pre-installed.
For improved strength and longevity, even the shelving of their safes is made using reinforced steel. While most gun safe makers are still using particleboard. The interior is fully upholstered that will prevent scratches to your guns.
Most of their gun safes also feature thick steel hard plate placed inside the door that is ten times larger than average. These plates protect the lock from the inside as well as the important internal components like the gear drive system and the re-locking mechanism.
Even the areas around the anchoring points are re-enforced. It prevents the safe from coming out loose by constantly rocking it.
Availability of Parts
You will always find replacement parts available because they rarely make any mechanical changes to their safes. Even after several years of usage, there won’t be any problem finding replacement parts.
On the other hand, most of the gun safe company will stop making replacement parts for their current models once they have released a new one.
Most of the components are imported but they assemble it here in their own manufacturing plant. However, they have an outstanding quality control process. They test their safe at the manufacturing plant and also the second time on their warehouse.
This helps keeping the cost down while ensuring industry standard quality. Since they don’t release new models each year, the parts can be used year after year. Their replacement parts are also affordable because they are able to keep logistical expenses down.
Steelwater keeps the replacement parts for their safe standard for many years. And for this reason, they can offer a competitive price for their parts.
They have a well-thought-out, rock-solid design that they stick to and provide affordable maintenance to all of their safes.
In the gun safe market, if it isn’t crazy expensive, it isn’t a real safe. They are more of a beefed-up cabinet that can deter casual thieves or burglary attempt. Steelwater however, has a pretty solid lineup of safes that are actually good.
Well, sort of. If someone wants to really break-in and has enough time and space, he/she will probably get in or steal the whole thing. But that’s ocean 11 style heist that I’m talking about.
If fire protection is what you need or want to keep unwanted hands from getting your guns, these safes are perfect for budget-oriented gun enthusiasts. And that concludes our Steelwater gun safe reviews. Hope you found what you were looking for.
